LaLiga Combined XI – Week 8

Goalkeeper – Rui Silva (Granada) : The Portuguese has been key in goal for the newly promoted team. After the crazy 4:4 thriller at Villarreal in the first round, he steadied the ship and kept 4 clean sheets.

Left back – Sergio Reguilón (Sevilla) : Reguilón made the right decision to go on loan has flourished in Lopetegui’s system. Key in Sevilla’s great start to the campaign and their solid defensive display.

Right back – Kieran Trippier (Atletico Madrid) : Surprisingly quick adaptation to a whole Spanish football. He was always a threat going forward and it seems that Simeone will improve him defensively. Part of an Atleti defence that has only conceded 4.

Centre back – Yeray Alvarez (Athletic Bilbao) : Athletic’s defensive line doesn’t get enough praise. Just 4 goals conceded. In reality, all 4 defender have a contribution but Yeray Alvarez has been consistently putting in performances. He is still awaiting his first senior international cap.

Centre back – Domingos Duarte (Granada) : Another new signing that has hit the ground running. A leader at the back and one of the main reasons for Granada’s early success. He even managed to score at the Bernabeu.

Central Midfielder – Arthur (Barcelona) : The Brazilian has earned the right to start every week for Barca. Brings the perfect balance to the midfield three with De Jong and Busquets. Poss threat shooting from outside the box (check out his goal against Villarreal)

Central Midfielder – Santi Cazorla (Villarreal) : Cazorla is back to his best form of his career. 4 goal and 3 assists after just 8 games. Unbelievable comeback considering all the injuries he went through.

Central Midfielder – Martin Odegaard (Real Sociedad) : Another Real Madrid loanee who seems have found the right team to flourish. The revelation of the season so far. Instrumental in Real Sociedad’s midfield, always able to split defences open and find a killer pass.

Striker – Loren Moron (Betis) : Loren only managed 8 goals for the whole of lasts season. After 8 games this campaign, he’s already got 6! A shining light in an underachieving Betis side.

Striker – Gerard Moreno (Villarreal) : Villarreal’s matches are always a lot of fun to watch. The team leaks goals but can also deliver on the other end. 19 goals of which a third is thanks to their main man up front Gerard Moreno. Surely making a claim for a national team call-up soon.

Striker – Karim Benzema (Real Madrid) : Mister Consistency. The new leader on the pitch for Blancos despite many fans doubting him. 21 goals in 2019. On fire!
